Transfering blog content to new host.

I think I am too affraid to try this. I want to transfer this blog to my own host but I am affraid of loosing everything. If I do end up getting enough courage to do this I can follow the steps offered by on about.com. I lost everything on a forum once and I was so upset. I think it would be ok as longs as I back up all the files. Well will just have to wait and see.

The Fish

I am always interested in meeting people that have a passion and drive for something they really believe in. Mark Seremet seems to be one of those passionate and driven people. Though I have only read about him through his blog, The Fish I can't sense that he is a highly motivate entrepreneur. Mark is developing a very powerful discovery engine called Repliqa. Repliqa is not ready for release but his is blogging attempting to create a community and awareness of this up coming discovery engine. He has recently presented the Repliqa idea to the ETRE (European Technology Roundtable Exhibition) in Barcelona. He blogged a little about his day one experience.

If you are having trouble thinking of things to write on your blog you might want to check out some of theses sites I have found. Developing good content is my desire for all of my blogs. So I decided to do a search to find writing prompts. At the end of the day it is so hard for me to think of things on my own.

Writers Digest - this one has a lot of fictional type prompts but it still could be very useful.
Writing Fix - this one I think is geared toward kids but it had some good prompts in it's prompt generator.

Have you ever heard of a conflict-free diamond? Not until I was introduced to this diamond website had I ever heard of this phrase at all. I had no idea there was even controversy surroundings diamonds. According to this web site this issue has been a problem since the beginning of the 20th century. They call it the "blood diamond".

Most people have heard of YouTube but have you heard of DropShots? DropShots is a free photo and video sharing website. It's similar to YouTube but I guess you can also have your photos hosted as well. I love finding out about new sites. This hosting site has an auto organizer for you videos and photos. Not sure what that means yet but it's sounds cool. Just like in YouTube you can post your video or picture straight into your blog. Not only that you can post it in a forum too. I am going to create an account and find out more. I will keep you posted and let you know if it works better than YouTube.

Halloween Fun

Halloween is almost here and we need to get everything ready to decorate. Including our computers. I love the idea of a themed computer but I usually don't have the time to think about changing my screensaver and whatnot but I may just make the time for these cool screensavers from ScreenSavers.com. They offer free Halloween screensavers and wallpaper as well as many other styles. They offer free, safe and easy to download screensavers and wallpaper.
I also searched the site and found some really nice horse sceensavers(my personal favorite). This site has just about any picture you can image. Check it out and see for yourself. Have fun getting creative with these screensavers and wallpaper :o).

Homework Help

Do you kids need help in math? I found a site that might be able to help. HotMath.com offers help in over 150 different text books. My daughter used this last year and it did help some. They take you step by step through the problems. As I recall, I believe they only take offer help for the odd numbers. You can try it for 15 days free.

Fine Wine

My husband has really been interested in becoming a wineo, no I mean "wine conesour". He has tried a few different types of wine but since he really doesn't know anything about wine I am sure he has picked the wrong ones. There are certain wines best for certain meals, right?
So I have decided that one of these days I am going to take him to a winery so he can learn more about choosing wine. It also wouldn't hurt to do some research online. JJ Buckley Fine Wines has wines from all over the world. They sell wines ranging from $1.99 to $516.99 per bottle. The $516.99 wine is a 1997 Yquem, Chateau d' Sauternes Blend 1500ml. I have no idea what that all means but I guess it means it's a really good wine.
Not sure I will ever be at the point financially to purchase my husband a $516.99. Right now our budget will only allow for the $1.99 bottle. But we will continue to dream of the day when we can sip $100 bottles of wine while eating grapes and cheese.

Cheap Ink Cartridges

Most everyone knows how much ink cartridges are these days. They are ridiculously expensive for what it is. I put over priced ink cartridges right up there with the extremely over priced candy and fountain drinks at the movie theatre. I don't know how much the one ink cartridge actually costs to make but I am thinking it's somewhere in the pennies area. So why do we pay $30 for an ink cartridge that costs pennies to make? I think many people pay the higher priced ink cartridges because they don't know there is an alternative. Or it could be that people know about an alternative but don't think that it will be as good as the companies brand ink. Well, I am here to say that I am very please with my cheaper ink. For the most part the ink is just like the manufactures ink but much, much cheaper. Cartridge SAVE is one of those great companies that carries inexpensive ink cartridges. Though they are a UK based company they ship to the US (free for some orders). I haven't heard of this company until recently but they seem to have a very nicely laid out site that is easy to navigate.

Bloggers new features

Now that I have been posted a few more posts since I transferred over to the new Betta I have discovered a few really cool features.

-The spellchecker is so much better. I really like it.
-They have added a Labels for this post (tags). This is an nice addition also.


They have change the time and date option but I am not sure I like that better.

New Web Site Project

I am currently working on my brother-in-laws business web site. He repairs turbine engine parts that are usually just replaced. He has a number of clients that are very pleased because they are saving thousands of dollars by repairing the parts instead of replacing them. He has tried to explain the whole process to me but since I am completely engine illiterate I never really know what he is talking about. I was introduce to a web site that will actually help me add content to my brother-in-laws site. They have a "how gas turbine works" page that I will be using while developing this site. It's not likely most people think they need to have an understanding of gas turbine engines but in case you do check out this site.

Generic vs Name Brand

Are you one of those people that will only purchase name brand items? I am not. I usually purchase generic but I have to tell you that there is something to be said for the quality of many name brand items. When it comes to clothing, most name brand clothes are way over priced but they are also usually made very well. Companies that want to be know for good quality will actually make the items better. I would also have to say there are many name brand foods that are so much better than the generic. There really is only one Twinkies. Generic drugs on the other hand usually work just as well as the name brands. So I guess I still favor generic brands over all but some things are best purchase from well known brand.

What is VOIP?

What is the future of telephone services? Will cell phones and Internet phone lines take the place of landlines? I am interested to see what the next few years will bring for phone services. Internet phone service is not a brand new concept. I remember our very first computer had a phone/fax software on it and I could use the Internet to talk on the phone. The only problem was there was often an echo and it wasn't always clear reception. I have heard that these types of issues have improved. I have been a little confused about this new technology until I check out this VOIP site. They offer all the information you want to know about Internet phone service. VOIP doesn't have to be a mystery anymore. If you are confused like I was about how this technology works you need to check out this site.

I have been posting about 6-7 posts a day between my two blogs. I want to start creating better content. So I think I have an idea that I will be working on to improve my blogging. I have also mentioned that I am working on a few new blogs that are more topic specific. I know for sure I will have a Web Site Reviews, On a Budget and a Family Entertainment blogs.
