Hawaiian Island Weddings

I do know a few people have a gotten married in Hawaii but I am not one of them. My husband and I did go there for our honeymoon. We stayed in Honolulu. It was beautiful. We drove around almost the entire island one day. That was over 15 years ago. I would love to visit Maui. I hope that maybe for our 20 year anniversary we could go to Maui. I can't turn back time but I do wish we were able to get married in Maui or any other Hawaiian island.

Blogitive vs PayPerPost

I was first introduced to the concept of getting paid to blog through blogitive.com. I was thrilled with the idea that I could get paid to say a few things about a product or service. The first day I signed up I got 12 offers which meant if I accepted them I would get paid $5 a post. Since I was in desperate need of the money I took all 12 offers. It was great and easy. I got paid $60 for posting my opinions on different products and services. After I posted those blogs I waited for the next offers to come in. Well, I waited and waited and to this day I haven't gotten anymore offers. Actually, I might have but you have to visit the site often because offers seem to go quickly.
Not long after I found out about blogitive I also stubble accross payperpost.com. Some what the same idea as blogitive but much better. With payperpost you have many offers to choose from and you can get paid as much as $25. My post average between $5 and $10 per post. You can only take 3 offers in any given day but that is actually fine with me. Though I would like to make more money, I think if it wasn't limited I would be going crazy everyday trying to post as much as I could. So a limit is a good thing for me right now.
So comparing the two companies there really is no camparison. Payperpost is far ahead of blogitive.

I definitely liked what Dan had to say about PayPerPost. I chose the side of payperpost as soon as I heard about it. When I first heard of the payperpost concept, I thought "what a great idea!". Even though some of my peers where saying otherwise, I always felt the payperpost concept was a good one. I am especially thankful for the opportunity it gives me as a stay at home mom. This might just be the best part-time work at home job there is. To be able to stay home with my kids and help the family financially as well, is a true blessing. Not only do I make money blogging but it also doesn't require a lot of time. I can put the kids to bed, do my three posts plus a few of my own and be done. Walgreens Digital Photo Service

I am in love with digital cameras. They are so easy to use and you can take so many pictures. The only thing I don't like is the delay when you snap the picture. Other than that they are great. I have a Cannon, which my brother said is the best brand so I believed him and bought one. It really is a good camera. I purchased it a few years ago so it's not the top of the line but it still is a good quality camera. When I discovered that if you go to Walgreens.com website you can upload and edit your pictures and have them developed at the store. I have done this a few times at my local Walgreens and recieved an email about 20 minutes after I sent the order telling me the pictures were already ready. I live in a small town so this may not be the same for a lot of places. I don't even have to pay for the photos until I pick them up from the store. I love it!

George Foreman Grill

I have to tell you that I have wanted one of these george foreman grills for a long time. I have seen them on info-mercials and in stores. I believe the concept is great and I know of friends that have one. One of my friends has the big giant family size one that looks like a outdoor standing grill. It is my opinion that most weight-loss programs will work if people stick to them. I believe that weight-loss is only necessary if the health is an issue. Too many women try to loose weight when they don't need to loose weight. Proper eating habits and exercise are always the key ingredients in staying fit and health. That being said, the Nutrisystem Nourish system has just as good a chance at providing positive results as any program if it is actually followed. With so many different programs out there it is hard to decide what will work for you. Seahorses

I love horses, even seahorses. I just wish they where big like real horses. I think one of the neatest things you could craft with are dried seahorses. Seahorse would be great for school projects or wedding decor. We recently had a vacation bible school at our church and the theme was Treasure Island. We had all kinds of ocean and beach decor. We did have some star fish and seashells but no seahorses. Seahorses would have made a nice edition to craft time.

Veggie Tales

Most of you parents have probably already hear of Veggie Tales but if you haven't let me tell you a little about it. Veggie Tales videos/dvds are bible stories put at a childs level. The characters in the videos are vegatables and it's really cute. Not exactly sure while the company chose vegetables as characters but it does work. Veggie Tales videos are filled with bright primary colors which for some reason small children really like.
I used to babysit a 3 month old that was a very crabby baby. Nothing could soothe him until we his mom showed him a veggie tale. At three months old this little baby would be in the middle of screaming and stop instantly when I would put a Veggie Tale show in the VCR. It was the funniest thing. I was so thankful for those videos. I have heard other stories where kids just loved these videos at early ages.
The other great thing about these videos is that the one liners and jokes can make parents laugh as well as the kids.
My baby girl didn't take to veggie tales like I thought she would but she did love her Baby Einstein. I have already reviewed Baby Einstein on another post.

Table Mate

There are some things available that can make ones life easier. Being able to work with your laptop while sitting in your comfortable couch is one of those things. Allergy season is here!

In the area I live in the pollen count is very high. Just about everyone I know is suffering in some way. My son has asthma and his condition has gotten worse over the last few weeks. There are two things I has slacked off on doing to help him with his breathing. One is I usually always have a humidifier running in his room all the time. We live in a very dry area so using a humidifer is very helpful. The other thing is that I usually have a air purifer running all the time in his room. The Perfect Boss

In an ideal world all bosses would be fair and give regular raises, reward their employees, give good paid vacation times and sick pay. Unfortunately this is not an ideal world and my husbands boss is one of those employers that don't believe in rewarding their employees. My husband has not gotten a raise in about 5 years and he really does deserve one. Not only does his boss not give raises or rewards but he doesn't fire useless employees. There are few employees that just do not do quality work but for some reason he doesn't fire them. Go figure.
Though his boss is wealthy he does not see rewarding his good employees or terminating his bad employees an important part of running a good business. In an ideal world a manager could use a software program like Manager Assistant 3.0 which is a employee appraisals and reviews a software. This software would be perfect for my husbands employer, if he were a good business man. Maybe he will wise up one of these days.

The Housing Market

Like most of CA the housing market was at a peak only a few months ago. Houses where selling like crazy. We sold our house in 14 days at a good price then. Only a few months later house where selling for much more. Many houses where selling in one day.
Like all market booms there must be peak. I am no realtor but I believe we have reached that peak and are now on a steady decline. In my neighborhood now there are several houses up for sale that have been that way for some time. We were fortunate enough to get our property and house built at the right time. Our house has almost tripled in value since we have lived here.
Finding the right mortgage company was a tricky thing at the time. We didn't want someone just trying to sell us a mortgage that wasn't right for us. We did find a great mortgage company that handle things very well. The only thing I would have done differently now would be to get a 15 year mortgage instead of a 30 year. My suggestion to anyone looking to purchase a new house is to get a 15 year mortgage. You will be so glad in 15 years when your house is paid off and you have no mortgage payment and all your friends are strapped for at least 15 more years(providing they did not refinance). The other thing I would stay away from is adjustable rate mortgage loans. Very bad idea to get into that type of loan. Just get a low rate now that will not change over time, it much safer and smarter.

The Auto Cool is an AS Seen on TV product that I have not seen on TV because I don't have cable but I was introduced to this product online and thought it was a great idea. I live in an area where temperatures can easily reach and stay in the triple digits. So as you can imagine my car often gets boiling hot inside and out. My like baby girl has to protect herself against the very hot buckles on her seat. I seem to forget to think of cover her seat so it would get so hot. The Auto Cool uses solar energy to power it. Ebay

Just about everyone has heard of ebay. I think it is considered a household name now. In recent months though, I have not been to happy with ebay. As a buyer I am still enjoying it but as a seller, it seems they are making it harder for us to sell and make a profit. The fees are still on the lower end but not as low as I would like. If I am selling just one thing that ends up closing for a couple of dollars then I usally loose money by the time the fees are all taken out. Beach Themed Weddings

My sister got married on the beach and I always thought it was one of the most beautiful weddings I have ever been too. It was a very simple wedding. Only a few people where invited. There wasn't much to the setup just the beautiful backdrop of the ocean and the only music playing was the sounds the waves in the ocean create. Only God could create such a beautful scene. My wedding was very nice in a church but if I had the choice now I might have choosen a sunset ocean scene like my sister had. If you are getting married you ought to think about a beach themed wedding. In my opinion it is one of the most beautiful. Sand dollars and Starfish decor, with everyone dressed in white and no shoes. Sounds relaxing and comfortable to me. Window Movie Maker

Window Movie Maker is a software that comes with most new PCs these days. I really like the simple user friendly setup that they have. I have made several movies on my program. The only problem that I have as an ameature movie maker is that it always freezes up. I have never made movies more than about 10 minutes but the stinkin thing still freezes up. It may be that I don't have enough memory but I have spoken to other people with more memory and they have said the same thing. I know there are many other software programs out there but since I don't have the money to buy one right now I have to settle with Movie Maker. Oh well, it was free.

Do pop up ads really work?

Do pop-up ads really work? I am wondering this because I don't think I have ever clicked on a pop-up ad. Do you really think that you are the one millionth viewer of the ad that they are trying to trick you into clicking? Or do you really think that if you click on the window that says "warning", your going to find something wrong with your computer?

I am just asking. Does this pop-up ad thing really work for them? Because I hate them. It's seems every time a put on my pop-up blocker I end up having to take it off for something I really do need to see.

Pat Parelli

Ok, I know this has review has not much to do with most families or business but I just thought I would share it in case there are any horse owners reading this post. Pat Parelli is a very good horseman. He has developed a very user friendly horse training system that anyone can do if they take the time to do it. His teachings sound and practicle. Some trainers I have seen over the years don't really present there information in a practicle way. There are 7 basic games you learn with your horse. These games are an excellent way to teach your horse without making it seem like tedious work. I have started his program on my horse just a few days ago and have already noticed improvement. After attending one of Pat Parelli's conferences I am very motivated to get my horse to like me. This may seem silly to say but if your horse really likes you they will just about do anything for you.

Baby Einstein

Ok, I think most of us moms have heard of Baby Einstein but you many not realize how great these products are. My now 21 month old baby girl has been watching her Baby Einstein since she was about 1 month old, no joke. She would watch the colors and twirly things going across the screen. Now she still loves watching them and likes to name everything she knows. The colors, sounds and pictures really do stimulate a child's mind. I absolutely love these videos.
I also got them on eBay for very cheap. The set of 10 DVD's are package for Japanese (I believe) consumers but they are all in English. By doing this I only had to pay $26 shipping included. This was 2 years ago but I still think you can find them pretty cheap. If you don't mind the packaging and the other language options on the menu then this would be great for you.

I know Amazon.com also has some great prices too.

Pampered Chef

Pampered Chef is a company that offers some great cooking products. Some of there products may seem pricey but there is a reason. There products last and they have some really neat useful things that you can't find anywhere else. One of my favorites that they carry are the baking stones. Baking stones are absolutely the greatest. Once fully seasoned they are truely the best baking tools. I have a retangular baking stone that I use mostly for cookies. I have had it for 5 years or so and it is completely black. This means that it is seasoned to perfection. My cookies always turn out perfect with these stones. Even when I over cook the cookies they still seem to come out good anyway. I never had that kind of success with cookies before my baking stone. Cast Iron Pans

I am a firm believer in using cast iron to do everyday cooking. This may sound silly to some but I think it is the best cooking tool. Here are my reasons why I love cast iron so much:
1. You can fry and bake with a cast iron pan - I often paritally cook my meal on the stove and then put it in the oven for more cooking.
2. A cast iron pan is very inexspensive - Usually for about $10- $20 Walmart.
3. It will last a very long time- my mom has had hers for about 30 years.
4. The get better with age.
5. You can scrub it hard but most of the time you don't need to.
6. Once it is nicely seasoned you don't need to use much oil.
7. I was told that the iron is actually good for your body.
8. If there is a burglar in your house you can use it to hit him over the head :o)- haven't needed it for that, thank God.

So if you don't already have a cast iron pan maybe you should get one. Or if you have one sitting in your cupboard, maybe you should try using it. Check your local Walmart, Kmart or Target.

Review # 2 - The Flylady

Who is the Flylady?
Several months ago I was introduce to the Flylady. She is a "life organizer". She will help you organize your home, and get even the worst cases showing results. I was very into the Flylady for about a month. I was really working at keeping my self organized. She encourages you to take baby steps and not to stress out. My house was getting really clean when I was committed. Then as time went by I got busier in other areas of my life that I dropped my Flylady. I still regret doing this because I was doing so well. If you sign up for it you can get daily emails for encouragment and focus. The emails did get to be much so I cancel my membership :o(.
